Saved me $$$$$$$ : ACDelco 214-2149 Professional Vapor Canister Purge Solenoid

After a little researching of the check engine code, I was able to trace it to this cheap little part. Originally I had taken my truck to the dealership. The service manager looked up the code and quoted me a total repair price of $360.00. He also claimed that they would have to "drop" the gas tank in order to access the part. That was total BS. The part is located under the truck bed just in front of the gas tank. It is easier to access than your air filter. So after this part, 6in" of 5/8" hose, 2 hose clamps, and 15 minutes of my time, I was able to fix the error code for about $25.00. Do yourself a favor and buy this cheap fix and save a ton of money. Note: This is the ORIGINAL solenoid. There is an updated part that took the place of this one (due to the awful original design, GM should do a recall) . The cost is approx. $80.00 and you will need about 6 ft. of 5/8" hose. I chose the cheaper version because I do not drive in dusty conditions that often. I have also stopped topping off my fuel tank. Once the pump stops, hang the nozzle up. If you continue to add fuel after the pump stops, it will overflow into the solenoid and cause it to stop working. My truck is an '05 and it just started giving this code about a year ago. So I figured why not buy the original part because of the price. The new design has not been around long enough to convince me that it will not suffer the same fate as the original. But for me, I can afford $20.00 every 5 years or so. Good luck.
